Houston 2nd place among US exporting cities

7 09 2008

I was reading a very interesting article regarding the chemical industry in Houston, Texas.  Being that we sell a lot of different types of storage and transportation equipment to the Chemical shipper / marketer; it has always been of interest to me how Houston has remained very robust these last couple of quarters for the chemical guys…

Well, as it turns out; our local chemical industry has helped boost Houston to be the no.2 exporting city in the US.

“Texas is home to dozens of chemical manufacturers whose materials go into a huge array of consumer products, making them more effective and resilient. Examples include nitrogen (extends shelf life for potato chips), carbon black (used to make ink for pens), polyethylene (used to create plastic food bags) chlorine (for disinfecting bottled water) and cetyl alcohol (for moisturizing hand lotion).”
